Elena decided to go to Rwanda and teach kids in the LSA Academy. Here is her testimony.
7 years ago I packed all my belongings into my tiny blue Kia and made my “big” move from Everett to Issaquah for the intern program. It wasn’t some glamorous decision to serve God…this was my last resort & my last sliver of hope. Driving there the song “I Surrender” by Hillsong came on. Through tears I told God – “I don’t know what I’m doing- but YOU do!”
3 years ago- the night before I started at Northwest University at their annual worship night before the new school year we sang “I Surrender”. Through tears & fear of failure I told God yet again… “ I don’t entirely know what I’m doing, but YOU do!”.
6 months ago- one of the final worship moments during Senior year of undergrad, I had already set my mind and heart on teaching in Rwanda…the same song comes on…
On the flight to Rwanda I prayed for God to give me overwhelming peace & confirmation again that this is from him (he’s already confirmed this so many times in crazy ways- but I still asked). Half way through our trip we wandered to a Museum that was new for everyone. We walked into a beautiful straw covered spot- and you can’t make this kind of stuff up…guess what song was playing? “I Surrender”.
Here is what I know- God is really good and he still speaks today. No I didn’t hear his voice audibly- but the compilation of these moments is just one way I know that he is so in this! He orchestrates and puts together details that are near and dear to our hearts- the things no one else would know. If He created you- he knows how to speak to you!
So dear friend- He will lead you and guide you to what he has for you. He will speak to you in every season and he will meet you in every season. He’s not put off by you asking him multiple times (or even 100). He knows we waver, he knows there will be discouragement and doubt, he knows it will be hard some days- so he will speak to you about it again and again – I hope you catch that!
